Test drive Peugeot 2008: when "less" is "more" - part 8

In the paragraphs above, I listed only those cars that were found here in the reviews - and then more than a dozen came out. And if you walk through the market as a whole, you will get the second one. Peugeot 2008 has many competitors. But while the car does not cost exorbitant money, it can attract the buyer with the status of a novelty, original design and interior, a wide selection of versions for the engine / gearbox, and quite good equipment.

Peugeot 2008 fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance

A diesel car in the city consumes 6.5-7 liters per 100 km. Taking into account the large number of traffic jams and / or with dynamic driving, the consumption will be about 8 liters per 100 km. With the most smooth ride and no traffic jams, you can get less than 6 liters per 100 km in the city. On the highway, at a speed of 80-90 km / h, fuel consumption is about 4 liters per 100 km, at a speed of 110-120 km / h, you can fit into an indicator of up to 5 liters per 100 km.

A 155-horsepower gasoline car in the city consumes from 8-9 liters per 100 km (with a smooth ride and no traffic jams) to 10-11 liters per 100 km (with dynamic driving and / or large traffic jams). On the highway at a speed of 80-90 km / h, the consumption is about 6 liters per 100 km.

The general guarantee for the car is three years or 100 thousand kilometers. There are also additional service contracts, which are essentially similar to a guarantee: up to a maximum of five years or 150 thousand kilometers. Routine service should be carried out every 15 thousand km or once a year. The cost of periodic standard maintenance for the diesel version is 2.3-3.7 thousand UAH. (depending on mileage and age). The cost of periodic standard maintenance for the gasoline version with a capacity of 155 hp. is 2.4-4.3 thousand UAH. (depending on mileage and age). The data on the cost of maintenance are indicated for Kiev; for other cities / regions, the cost of maintenance may differ slightly.

Prices for a car and service are indicated as of the end of July, excluding additional discounts and promotions when buying a car or servicing it.

 Peugeot 2008 safety

In Euro NCAP tests, the car received a "4-star rating", but with a note "5-star rating for the version with safety package". And here it is important to correctly explain all the nuances. So, the crossover earned high marks for the safety of the driver and passengers in the cabin (91% of the maximum possible rating), and quite high marks for the safety of children (84%). But pedestrian safety (62%) and the operation / availability of driver assistance systems (68%) contributed to the decline in the overall rating. That is why the Peugeot 2008 crossover in the basic version received only a "4-star" rating - although if we talk about the strength of the body's power structure and protection in case of an accident, then we have a completely modern and fairly safe car. And that is why the version with the safety package ultimately receives a "5-star" rating: it pulls up above the ratings for assistive systems that affect active safety and help the driver avoid an accident.

 Eventually

It’s not sane. The "cooler" and more expensive Peugeot 2008 becomes, the more difficult it is to justify its purchase. If I operated with only one test car for 850 thousand UAH, then it would be difficult to find objective reasons for buying it. It's better and more correct to give that kind of money for the Peugeot 3008. Because the Peugeot 3008 is a masterpiece on wheels. But Peugeot 2008 is not.

But after a detailed study of different versions of Peugeot 2008, it seems to me that the basic and medium versions better meet expectations and correspond to their price: sufficient interior space, good comfort, many options with automatic transmission, modern equipment - all this is offered for relatively little money. And in this light, the Peugeot 2008 crossover may not be perceived as a masterpiece, but it certainly corresponds to the status of "good" for daily routine trips. And if you pay extra - then initially for a 155-horsepower engine. Because it is he who will give you minutes of joy during these very trips.

 Pros:

+ Design outside and inside - looks original, while practicality is thought out

+ The Peugeot i-Cockpit 3D dashboard is a new word in the organization of the salon

+ A wide range of versions - motors, configurations, additional options

 Minuses:

 - Comfortable, soft suspension ... but sometimes too soft

 - Maximum versions are unreasonably expensive
