 Finally, on the morning of the second day, I managed to drive a little on a 2-liter turbo diesel version with a DSG transmission: consider the second optional. Someone talks about more load on the front wheels, but it came in handy when it was required to implement 360 Nm of traction and 150 hp. on a slippery road after a morning rain. Turbodiesel is good both when accelerating from a standstill and when overtaking on the highway. According to the manufacturer, the engine is also good for environmental friendliness: in the exhaust system there was a place for a double SCR catalyst with urea injection. One note: after gasoline engines, I would like the turbodiesel to work quieter. If you believe the numbers, then the turbodiesel is inferior to the gasoline TSI: acceleration from 0-100 km / h in 8.8 seconds and 223 km / h maximum speed. But it felt like - in many situations (exit from the corner, acceleration on the track) seemed faster and more dynamic.

 Of the widest range of engines for the Volkswagen Golf 8, the most interesting during the test drive was the eTSI with a 48-volt hybrid additive (DSG versions only): a belt-driven starter generator, an energy converter and a small lithium-ion battery under the front seats. But on the go, the turbodiesel was more memorable: more noise, but also more thrust in the middle rev zone. Although for us the situation with motors and transmissions will be completely different.

 Because Ukraine will receive its own motors, its transmissions, its own suspension tuning. Initially, we have planned two gasoline engines and traditional hydromechanical "automatic machines". The range is opened by a 1.6-liter 110-horsepower "atmospheric" with MPI multipoint injection, which will be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission Aisin. A similar combination is found in Ukraine today on some VW Group models: a real find for traditional buyers or for corporate sales. The second option is the famous 1.4-liter TSI turbo engine with 150 hp. and a torque of 250 Nm, which will be offered with an 8-speed "automatic": for private buyers who want to please themselves with modern technology and maximum dynamics. And since we started about the Volkswagen Golf 8 in Ukraine ...

 Terms of appearance and price of Volkswagen Golf 8 in Ukraine

 First information: the new Volkswagen Golf 8 will come to us in the summer of 2020. The planned price is also known - from $ 23 thousand: it is possible that the car “in the base” will not receive several systems that are in Europe, but it will receive a 6-speed automatic transmission. Versions with "mechanics" are still in question, the same with a turbodiesel: the latter is really looking forward to it - it's good!

 Taking into account the temporary handicap of six months, it is still too early to say what the Ukrainian buyers of the Volkswagen Golf 8 will receive: a full range of engines and gearboxes, equipment and equipment, a package of "bad roads", exact prices - all this will become known closer to the start of sales car. But one thing is already certain: the Volkswagen Golf 8 again sets new standards for the segment, it is again the leader of the C-class. I am sure that even in Ukraine, with all our love for crossovers and sedans, there are many buyers for such a thoroughbred "European".
