Test drive Peugeot 2008: when "less" is "more" - part 3

The red car is the Allure trim and the 130 hp engine (also 1.2-liter and 3-cylinder, also with turbine). Plus 6-st. "Automatic" series EAT6: pay attention - it has a traditional lever, which somewhat changed the design of the central tunnel. And that brings us to talk about the 2008 Peugeot saloon ...

From the good: no more comments on the spaciousness of the cabin! I remember that for the last generation Peugeot 2008 I had comments on the height in the rear. However, the new Peugeot 2008 has become more spacious, albeit a little, but in all directions, and now it offers a fairly spacious interior, both for its class and size. Of course, you will not find any special delights in the back: there are no ventilation deflectors, USB connectors for charging gadgets are present only in the middle configuration and above (in the “base” there is only one USB port for the entire cabin). A similar point applies to the arrangement of the trunk: the correct rectangular shape, a large loading opening, niches for small things, a comfortable 2-level floor (which, again, the "base" is deprived of - which is a pity). If we are really looking for nagging, then we can also say that the front seat cushions are too small for tall drivers.

But the fact of the matter is that this is really nit-picking. Indeed, in basic matters Peugeot 2008 is good: there is a well-defined fit along the “seat / steering wheel / pedals” triangle, sufficient adjustment ranges for the front seats, good visibility to the front and sides (although the window is small at the back), logical arrangement of controls led by a small steering wheel ... And once again, taking into account the class and size of the car, the Peugeot 2008 crossover has a fairly spacious interior and a large trunk.

Nice interior: high-quality finish (yes, soft panels), modern and recognizable Peugeot style with a mini-steering wheel, beautiful detailing of the buttons on the center console, original 3D device (I will tell you in detail below). Plus, comfortable front seats with developed sidewalls, good rear space, a large trunk. Comparing the GT Line and Allure versions, I will choose the latter: for a light ceiling and a sense of spaciousness, for an excellent combined seat upholstery. Yes, the shredded leather on the GT Line looks even cooler, but don't flatter yourself - this is a pretty expensive option even for the GT Line (even if this option includes a back massage function). I will also choose Allure for the gray matte center console (at the bottom). Because the abundance of black gloss is beautiful, but hardly practical. But here's an example of practicality: a cover that can be used as a smartphone stand: a brilliant little thing!
