Test drive Toyota Highlander: when "third" is not superfluous - part 6

Toyota Highlander real fuel consumption and vehicle maintenance

Urban fuel consumption was stable at the mark of 14 liters per 100 km: a lot, but about as much was promised by the passport data. If you drive as smoothly as possible and without traffic jams, you can get a consumption of 12-12.5 liters per 100 km, if you drive dynamically and / or there are a lot of traffic jams, get ready for a consumption of about 15 liters per 100 km. On the highway at a speed of 80-90 km / h, the car consumes about 6.5 liters per 100 km, with an increase in speed to 110-120 km / h, this mark increases to about 8 liters per 100 km of track - which is also very close to the declared passport characteristics.

The general guarantee is three years or 100 thousand kilometers. Service maintenance must be carried out every 15 thousand km or once a year. The minimum cost of maintenance is 2.7-2.8 thousand UAH, extended maintenance is estimated at 8.1-8.2 thousand UAH. Prices are for Toyota dealer in Kiev. The exact cost of service depends on the chosen dealer, the mileage and age of the car, the list of work performed, the city / region of Ukraine.

Prices for the car and service are indicated as of August, excluding additional discounts and promotions when buying a car or servicing it.

 Eventually

Frankly, the results strongly depend on competitors: against the background of two key rivals - Infiniti and Mazda - the Toyota Highlander crossover does not look like a "golden mean", but rather a "third" ... But it's not superfluous! If the previous Toyota Highlander crossover in my personal rating was losing even to the Honda Pilot, then the newcomer significantly strengthened its position and became head and shoulders above its predecessor. Moreover, it is better in literally everything: it looks okay, has received an "advanced" technique, provides good comfort on the go, and is clearer to operate. Yes, even though the new Toyota Highlander crossover is still not a revelation in the class, it still took a huge step forward relative to its past. Offset!

 Pros:

+ There is a lot of comfort everywhere - suspension and soundproofing, the operation of the motor and "automatic machine" ...

+ Spacious interior, wide possibilities of transformation, huge trunk

+ Normal multimedia, head-up display, Toyota Safety Sense, "smart" four-wheel drive - enough to say that Toyota is outdated? ...

 Minuses:

 - Low quality trim (especially the front panel, especially considering the price)

 - No economical version, I would like to get a hybrid version as an alternative
